Rock Hall, Maryland
Early on Saturday morning to help get Rock Hall's Oyster and Seafood Festival started, the inaugural Oyster Run 5K Race occurred. Although a bit chilly, the weather (which was probably in the lower 50's) was very conducive to running and it was quite sunny. Fortunately, most of the flat 5-Kilometer course zig-zagged through shaded bayside neighborhoods, then straightened out for a rather long east-bound stretch along Route 20 in Rock Hall. The course was pretty much a loop through the relatively small waterside town, starting and ending at the Intersection of North Main Street and Sharpe Street outside of Java Rock and Durding's.
Ward Stevenson (pictured in the upper left), a senior cross country runner at Kent County High School, easily won the race in a great time of 17:59. Noah Wood took second and Marti Stuedle (pictured in the upper right) took third overall and she was the first female finisher as well. Mark VanSant finished third for the men and fifth overall.
Now not far behind Marti Stuedle was Lori Armstrong, who also took first in the master women's division. Susan Schweers was the third female finisher.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the event and the awards ceremony promptly followed afterwards. Some of the participants were locals and some had come in to visit and participate from out of state. After the awards ceremony there was a photo taken of some of the participants outside of Java Rock by a Kent County Times staff member (the photo in the lower left).
The photo on the lower right is a scenic photo I took in my leisure time following the race outside of Waterman's in Rock Hall. It's a photo of more of the town's buildings across the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

Women:
Junior Women = 25 years-old and under
Open Women = 26-39 years
Master Women = 40 years and up
Men:
Junior Men = Under 20 years
Open Men = 20-35 years
Sub-Master Men = 36-49 years
Master Men = 50 years and up
